Update!

It is becoming a reality! The writing of the CommUnity Torah is about to begin!

It’s no secret that many of us harbored the hope that as soon as 2021 walked through the door, Mr. Covid would sneak out the back window never to return. But alas, it seems the fireworks didn’t scare Mr. Covid away.

That means we’re going to keep being flexible.

We know that it would be so special to have an in-person celebration with the scribe marking the beginning of the writing of the Torah Scroll. We also know that in the very Torah we are beginning to write, we are commanded to guard our life and health.

With that in mind, we have adjusted our plans and moved the grand celebration online, to protect everyone’s health and safety.

Mark your calendar! The beginning of the writing of the CommUnity Torah will take place on Sunday, Jan 17 via Zoom!

I’m sure many of you are thinking, “Wait! What about the special opportunity of helping the scribe write a letter in the Torah? That’ll be difficult to do over Zoom…”

Not to worry! We will do our best to make sure everyone who dedicates a part in the CommUnity Torah gets the unique opportunity to help the scribe write a letter. G‑d willing, when the scribe comes down to Bainbridge to complete the Torah Scroll with great celebration, those who participate will have a chance to help write one of the final letters, completing this historic Torah Scroll.

Stay tuned for more exciting details of the Zoom event!

Can’t wait to see you there!
